The Spring 2025 Issue is Here!
Call for Summer submissions

Mark Makers' Quarterly, a print journal for and about rural California's art and artists, is looking for submissions for its next issue. This quarterly magazine, based on the northern Sonoma and southern Mendocino coast, showcases artists and art from throughout California, and is available by subscription and select Northern California outlets.
Summer 2025 Themes:

1) Botanical Art: I am looking for botanical art, which can include botanical illustration, nature journaling and sketching, landscapes, plein air, still life, and more. Do you have a favorite flower, fruit, tree, or field that you find emerging over and over again in your work? What do you love about it? How has studying and portraying it changed your relationship to this specimen, to art, to how you see the world?

2) In the Landscape: In addition to botanicals, I'm looking for how our built environment or people themselves, are portrayed within the land: A barn surrounded by a tilled field, a person wading into a meadow or forest? How do people or architecture fit within the natural world? Tell me about it.
Any media is welcome. Submit three to five images, along with a brief statement in the first person narrative, and your contact info and website / social media info.
Artwork should be high quality images (at least 300 dpi at 8.5 x 11 size) (send as many as five, and a shot of you in your studio if you have one). In the file name for your photos, PLEASE include title of work and medium.

NOTE: Please attach your art as file attachments at full size, not embedded in the email.

Deadline for submissions for Summer 2025 printing: June 30.
